Return to the Blue Planet

(Auckland, New Zealand) May 7, 2008—RedBrick Limited announced today that they have successfully concluded negotiations with Biohazard Games for a license to publish roleplaying products for the Blue Planet milieu. Blue Planet is a science-fiction roleplaying game set in humanity's near future. Prepare for a compelling journey to a distant water world where life is hard and dying is easy. A world where GEO Marshals enforce the peace and wired mercenaries patrol deep waters in deadly fighter subs. A planet where corporate greed and human desperation ravage an alien ecology, threatening to plunge humanity into a war of survival with an ancient legacy. Welcome to Poseidon. Welcome to Blue Planet.

James Flowers, RedBrick Company Director, said "At RedBrick we work with game properties that we feel passionate about. Blue Planet is one of these properties and we look forward to continuing in the footsteps of Biohazard Games. Jeff Barber and Greg Benage have created an exciting game with a lot of unexplored potential. Equally important, Blue Planet is a game that foreshadows a lot of the events happening in our own world. RedBrick will continue to work closely with Biohazard Games to ensure continuity with the original vision for Blue Planet."

Jeff Barber, Biohazard Games President, said "We are excited that the Blue Planet adventure will continue. Fans of the game have been waiting a long time for a revitalization of the line, and RedBrick's community-based approach means that not only will their patience be rewarded, but that the Blue Planet player community will actually have a voice in the direction the new line takes."

James Flowers added, "At present, we have a lot to do and our immediate focus is making the Second Edition books available in electronic format as eBooks, and getting the Ancient Echoes supplement back into print. We will announce more details on what we have planned for the future of Blue Planet in due course."

State of the Brick: A Review of 2007

Well, it’s time again to welcome Earthdawn and Fading Suns fans to 2008! (A little late, I’m sorry, but things have been somewhat hectic...) Arcane Tech Available Now!

With the Fall of the Second Republic, Science and Technology were brought low. The Church claims that these former monuments of human genius eclipsed the grace of the Pancreator with hubris, that humanity must worship but one god and not be beholden to the false totems of reason. In the New Dark Age, few dare ignite the fires of knowledge, to shed light into the dark places humanity once walked with certainty.
Visionaries are rare; branded as heretic, anarchist, or republican. The Church turns ignorant eyes to more sacred visions instead. Engineers pick over the remnants of a bygone era in the hope of recovering some of that former enlightenment. Their patchwork creations--golem, appliance or thinkmachine--are all considered monstrous by the Church.

RedBrick Limited is pleased to announce that the Arcane Tech book is available now as eBook on DTRPG and RPGNow and both printed softcover and hardcover at Lulu. Arcane Tech catalogues some of the most bizarre and illicit technology in the Fading Suns universe, and includes equipment designed at every stage of human development, from the highest to the lowest: psychic devices, artifacts, weapons, and much more. A must for well-equipped technosophists everywhere!

A preview of the book in our downloads section is also available!

Fading Suns Open Call for Writers has ended!

The Fading Suns Open Call for Writers has ended, and we have received a total of seven submissions. We would like to thank all participants for their kind efforts, and are looking forward to working through the material! Each author will be notified via eMail about the status of his or her submission once we have decided on which one goes into the Prisoners & Exiles book.

The Prisoners & Exiles is scheduled for release in 2008 and covers the laws of the Known Worlds and the problems related to competing legal codes, some dating back to the Republic, others imposed by noble houses or the Empire. It details example facilities of nobles, Church, and Empire, ranging from the Muster’s slave pens to the Penal Legion of Hira, also fugitives and dissidents such as the Known World’s Most Wanted, and the places where the people find sanctuary and try to take their futures into their own hands.

New Submission Handbook for 2008

The revised Submission Handbook details the framework we use to develop your ideas into viable products that are quality-checked, laid out, and illustrated. No matter if you are or want to become a writer, we are eager to work with you. We look forward to your ideas for adventures, sourcebooks, novels, articles, and—of course—artwork!
